How to make backups on cPanel?

Although we offer free daily backups on your cPanel account, there may be occasions when you want to make your own backups and we even recommend you do this regularly, especially before any major changes or updates in case there are any issues.

To make backups on cPanel, you have 2 options:

Option 1

  • Partial Backups

Partial backups allow you to backup only certain aspects of your cPanel account such as databases and the home directory and the backups are downloaded directly to your device rather than stored within your account.

To make a partial backup, simply login to your cPanel account and navigate to Files>Backup and choose the files you would like to backup from the options on the left-hand side of the page.

Option 2

  • Backup Wizard

By using the Backup Wizard on cPanel, you choose to create full or partial backups of your account and these will be stored within your root folder.

To use the Backup Wizard, log in to your cPanel account and navigate to Files>Backup Wizard then choose the Back Up option from the left.

From here, you can choose between a Full Backup or a partial backup of either your home directory, databases or email forwarders and filters.
