Setting up SMTP in cPanel

Setting up SMTP in cPanel involves 2 steps:

  1. Creating a new email account in cPanel.
  2. Enter the relevant server and authentication details in your email client.

Every time you create an email account in cPanel, SMTP details will automatically be created. To create a new email account, simply log in to your cPanel account and navigate to Email>Email Accounts.

Here you will see a list of any email accounts already created or if no accounts exist, you will see only the default account showing.

On the right-hand side, you will see a Create button. Click this and enter the username and password required for the new email address and click Create at the bottom of the page and your new email address will be created.

Now, in order to view the SMTP details for your new email account, again navigate to Email>Email Accounts and select Connect Devices on the right-hand side of the relevant email address.

On this page, you will find the username, SMTP port and host URL to use when connecting to your email client.

How you use this information depends on the email client you are using such as Gmail or Outlook and each has its own processes and documentation to help you.
