503 Error – Resource Limit Reached

If you get a 503 Error – Resource Limit Reached message when attempting to visit your website, this means your account is hitting its LVE resource limits.

We use CloudLinux to manage our servers to maintain stability so that no one account can use too many server resources. These limits are called LVE (Lightweight Virtual Environment) and are similar to how a VPS works, however, this is done on a server level.

We set these limits as standard on all cPanel accounts. The limits are:

  • 1 CPU
  • 2GB RAM
  • 30 Entry Processes

Our shared, WordPress and reseller hosting plans use a shared hosting environment and these resource limits are high and are more than sufficient for the vast majority of websites to function without ever encountering a 503 Error.

If you do see an error, this means your account has reached or exceeded these limits and action needs to be taken to reduce the resource usage of your website.
